ElevenLabs for Podcasters — Complete 2026 Guide

Podcasters typically don't use ElevenLabs to replace their actual podcast recording — that's not the right tool for editing or live conversation. What they use it for is generating assets around their show: ad reads, intros, bonus content, and repurposed audio that would otherwise require another recording session.

What podcasters use ElevenLabs for

Setting up voice cloning

Two cloning options, and the difference matters:

Training data tip: Use your past podcast episodes as training data for the Professional Clone. Clip out any guest voices or music, leaving only your solo segments. 30–60 minutes of clean solo audio produces the best results.

Ad reads — the workflow

This is the most common use case. Here's the exact workflow most podcasters use:

   Get the sponsor brief. Most sponsors send copy you can use or adapt. Rewrite it in your natural speaking style — casual, conversational, how you'd actually say it.

   Paste into ElevenLabs → your cloned voice. In the Speech Synthesis tab, select your Professional Clone, set the model to Flash v2.5 (fastest generation, same quality for speech), paste the copy, and click Generate. Listen through once.

   Adjust if needed. ElevenLabs lets you control stability and clarity. If the output sounds too flat, lower stability. If too variable, raise it. Try different settings until it sounds right.

   Download and drop into your episode. Export as MP3. In your DAW (Descript, Audacity, Logic), drop the file in at the right timestamp, adjust volume levels to match your natural voice, done.

A typical 60-second ad read is about 120–150 words, which is roughly 800–1000 characters. On the Starter plan's 30K characters/month, that's 30–37 ad reads per month — more than enough for weekly episodes with multiple ad slots.

Show intros and outros

Generate episode-specific intros rather than using the same canned intro every episode. A dynamic intro that mentions the guest name and topic makes the opening feel more premium — listeners notice.

Script template: "Welcome to [Show Name]. I'm [Your Name], and today I'm talking to [Guest Name] about [topic in one sentence]. This is going to be a good one." Change the bracketed parts per episode, generate in seconds.

Bonus and repurposed content

Episode summaries. Take your show notes, summarise the key points in 150 words, generate as audio. Drop this at the start of the episode for returning listeners, or publish as a short teaser clip.

Ethics and disclosure

Using your own cloned voice to generate your own content is ethically sound — you're the voice owner, you trained the model, you're generating content you would otherwise have said yourself. The grey areas are:

• → Do tell sponsors if they specifically ask whether the read was recorded or generated. Most don't ask; most don't care as long as quality is good.
• → Don't use someone else's voice without their explicit written permission. ElevenLabs' terms prohibit this too.
